Recently the Welsh tithes lists, collated between 1839 and 1842, have been published on the TheGenealogist, and they have been very helpful in helping me advance my family history. Now able to link these lists to information from the 1841 census on the same site, I am a happy man!

I had a number of ancestors of interest living near the England–Wales border around 1840. The Buckleys (2x and 3x-great-grandparents) had just arrived from the south coast of Ireland while the Powells and Jenkins (2x, 3x and 4x-great-grandparents) were firmly entrenched in parishes beside the River Wye and close to the road from Builth Wells to Hay. I already knew a little about them but still had a number of issues to sort out.
