New Indexing Site

Those who have signed up to help with our indexing project are now being offered the chance to use the customised quality- and data-checking tools that our team of programmers and indexers have developed.

www.UKindexer.co.uk is already proving popular and people are enjoying using the new tools we have made available.

If you are interested in being involved, why not join us? We offer free subscription indexes and other rewards to those who help us.

NB We recommend a broadband connection for using the new tools as this will speed up the download time.

If you are involved with the Census name-Indexer your current login details are still valid so just sign in.

If you are not yet an indexer, please sign up. When registered, please read the help pages for how to proceed.

Indexing Projects

The aim of this site is to provide accurate indexes for family historians produced by family historians. This will help everyone locate their ancestors whilst keeping costs to a minimum.

Indexing projects are invaluable in the search for your ancestors. The raw census records are indexed only by street, so unless you know the actual address at which a person lived it can be very difficult and time consuming to locate them.

The transcribed names of people recorded in the census have been collated and published online allowing users to search for people by name, part name, age and area. The reference provided allows users to locate the entry in the original records.

The UK Indexer project is vital to ensure the accuracy of the transcriptions.
We are pleased to announce that our Indexing Project has now over 8000 members and it is still expanding.

All indexes and subscriptions are provided subject to our standard terms and conditions.
