Does this sound familiar: shops and businesses closed, almost deserted streets, people staying in their homes fearful of catching an infectious disease and the authorities giving financial help? But rather than Covid in 2020, this is London in 1665 when those locked in their homes listened out at night for the awful shout ‘Bring out your dead’ by men collecting corpses for the plague pits.
