The three Family History Shows London, South West and York are proving to be some of the most popular events in the family historian’s annual calendar. Visitors have mentioned that they are attracted by the great value that each event offers where one entrance ticket allows access not only to the hall which is filled with exhibitors but also to the free talks in the two theatres and the helpful personal consultations with a number of specialists in the “Ask the Expert” zone.

Benefiting from generous free parking, each show has a shuttle bus from the nearest railway station and has hot and cold refreshments available throughout the day. The exhibitors range from the Ministry of Defence, local archives, Universities offering courses and numerous family history societies, as well as being well attended by a number of genealogical suppliers with their well-stocked stalls. No matter whether it is at the York, South West or London show, you will be able to pick up a broad range of family history related goods, software, maps and books, or even buy a DNA test. Whether you are experienced in exploring your ancestors, or just starting out, there is always a great deal to interest the family history researcher at each of these venues.

For those who like to learn more about research techniques the free talks in the theatres cover various topics from the breaking down of brick walls, military ancestors, social history, dating photographs, house histories, using maps and the use of DNA tests in your family tree research.

The Ask the Experts area provides the opportunity to sit down face to face with an expert to make use of their professional knowledge at no extra cost over the entry ticket price. You would need to book a ten minute time slot with each expert and these are usually booked up quickly so it’s best to get there early! If you miss this, the experts also gather together in a panel session at the end of the day, held in one of the free talk theatres at each event.

All three of these popular shows are sponsored by TheGenealogist, who will be there to showcase the unique features of their website, and the events are organised by Discover Your Ancestors Magazine. If you would like to come along to see why these shows are so positively received by attendees as well as exhibitors, the next three shows are scheduled to run on the following days:
