Internet Explorer 8

This is currently the earliest version of Internet Explorer (IE) which is supported by the site. Support does not however mean that the experience will be as good as someone using the latest versions of Google Chrome, Firefox or IE.

Why update?

  • Without regular security updates a browser is the most vulnerable piece of software on your PC. IE8 on windows XP is particularly vulnerable now XP has reached its end of life and Microsoft will not be releasing any further updates.
  • IE8 first came out over 5 years ago. This was before many of the web technologies used today were fully implemented. Adding IE8 support therefore involves a number of workarounds which further makes the page load slower.
  • If you update to a more modern browser pages across every website will load faster and look better.
  • Google has dropped full support for IE versions 9 and below.

Windows XP

IE8 was the last version released by Microsoft for your operating system. To update to a more modern browser we recommend Google Chrome or Firefox.

Windows Vista

IE9 was the last version released by Microsoft for your operating system. Although this is slightly better than IE8 it is not being actively updated and hence is a security risk. It is therefore highly recommended to swap to Google Chrome or Firefox.

Windows 7 / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1

If you wish to continue to use IE then please run windows update to update your version of IE to the latest (currently 11).
